Public holidays Romania

For the year 2025, Romania has 17 public holidays, during which most employees benefit from paid days off. Employees who work on these days receive financial compensation, often in the form of double salary for the hours worked on the holidays. In addition, Romanian legislation also provides for other types of days off for important events, such as:

• ✓Employee's marriage - 5 days
• ✓Marriage of a child - 2 days
• ✓Birth of a child - 5 days + 10 days, if a childcare course was taken
• ✓Death of spouse, child, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, in-laws - 3 days
• ✓Blood donors - 1 day off, on the day of donation
